Who should choose this course?
Do you need to pass an exam in order to progress in your work or studies? LAI offers a range of exam preparation courses including the Cambridge PET, FCE, and CAE. On our staff are specialist teachers who will help you on your journey towards the exam.
What happens on this course?
You will have 4 hours of class every day. There will be no more than 10 students per class. The teacher will follow a syllabus that is designed to ensure there are no gaps in your learning. You will practise all four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. There is a focus on communication so expect to be speaking a lot during pair and group work. The teacher may also introduce some real world materials to supplement your learning such as newspaper articles or videos. At LAI we like to prepare our students for using English in the real world so we aim to make our materials as relevant as possible to the tasks of daily life.
What is included in this course?
You will practice the four key exam skills of writing, reading, listening and speaking according to the structure of the relevant exam. Teachers use a variety of resources including course books designed specifically for the exam and past exam papers to practice. Periodically, full mock exams will be provided. Choose from a full time test preparation course with general English group tuition and smaller supplementary exam classes, 1-to-1 intensive preparation or part-time study on our weekly Saturday course.
Option 1: A full time English course (General, Intensive or Complete) and supplementary exam classes (Saturday morning or 1-to-1).
Option 2: One to one intensive classes with a dedicated teacher.
Option 3: Weekly Saturday morning class.
What is not included In this course?
Exam fees. The exams are not taken in the school but we will be happy to provide assistance in booking the exam and providing directions to the examination centre.

What else does the school have to offer?
We also offer evening classes in a group setting to supplement your learning. A volunteer placement programme in a local business may also be arranged. The school also runs after class activities such as bowling, social nights and board games. We also run regular excursions to Dublin city and surrounding attractions such as Glendalough. Arrangements for travel cards are also available from reception.
