This highly popular programme involves a mix between study and work.
All of our Au Pairs attend our Academy. We have special programmes and prices for our Au Pairs (see below). We do not charge a placement fee to the Au Pair or the family. However three months of classes must be paid for in advance. We run classes in the morning and evening to suit the needs of the students and the families.
The word Au Pair means equal, meaning one works as an Au Pair and receives something equal in return. This shows the Au Pair program is not based purely on money. The integration in the host family plays an important part of this process. Today, thousands of young people around the world stay in a different country, it being the most effective, inexpensive and safe.
This programme is recommended for girls between the age of 18 and 35 years old, and generally requires a minimum stay of three months. Language Academy Ireland welcomes and helps place au pairs from all over the world for any term from 3 months to 2 years.
At present, we are using an outside agency to place all of our Au-pairs and Demi-pairs. When you complete the form below, we will send your information to the agency and they will contact you directly.
Under Irish employment law, Au Pairs are entitled to the National Minimum Wage, minus €54.13 for full board and lodging, which equates to €150 for 22.3 hours help. Arrangements with more or fewer hours are possible (see below for further details).

Considerations for Host Families
A recent ruling by the Workplace Relations Commission (March 2016) has clarified the position of Au Pairs as employees under Irish law. They have produced guidelines every host family should be aware of: Employment Rights of Domestic Workers in Ireland. In essence, host families must now act as employers, follow regular employment legislation and retain formal records of the Au Pair’s work, including hours worked and payslips.
The Au Pair arrangement is between the host family and the Au Pair, and Language Academy Ireland acts only as facilitator of the relationship. We forsee no difficulties in homes where a positive relationship has been fostered between the host family and Au Pair.
