Junior Groups

LAI Bray offers tailor made year-round courses for juniors aged from 9-18 years. At Language Academy Ireland Bray we are the only School that combines a range of Water Sports and English Classes. The Academy is bright and modern with very up to date facilities. The student common room is equipped with a library and computers which the students are free to use. We provide free refreshment, tea, coffee, milk, cookies and also free WIFI!

Location

The Language Academy is located in the heart of the wonderful sea side town of Bray, Co. Wicklow and is ideally situated just off Bray Main Street. We are just 35mins by bus or train to Dublin City Centre and both the bus stops and train station are just 500m from the school entrance.

Bray is famous for its walks, with the promenade and Bray Head being favourites. Bray Head rises steeply from the sea to a height of nearly 800ft/240m. A footpath known as the Great White Way runs from the south end of the Esplanade, passing a small ruined church. When you reach the top of the hill, you are rewarded with a beautiful view over Dublin Bay.

Accommodation

Host family accommodation provides students with a full experience of Irish culture and allows them to practice their English in a natural setting. All of our host families have been carefully chosen and are visited on a regular basis to ensure continuity of high standards in a safe environment. Host families will provide full food and board to the Junior Group students.

Also, for smaller groups, we may be able to provide shared B&B style accommodation in the local area.

Junior Homestay Programs at the Academy

We offer friendly Irish host families where the student will be treated and cared for as a member of the family. Host families are located within walking distance of the Academy or a short bus journey away.

Lessons

Our junior students attend 20 classes per week. Classes are available at all levels from Elementary to Advanced. All of Our teachers are Irish ACELS accredited. They use a range of the best teaching materials. Classes focus on the 4 key language skills. There are lots of communication activities, games and role-plays as well as grammar, reading, writing and listening exercises. Our Group classes integrate the studying of Irish culture and history also, so students learn more about the sites they will be visiting throughout their stay with us.

Activities & Excursions

Language Academy Ireland offers a mix of cultural excursions, historical visits, entertainment, sightseeing and sports activities. We can also provide 2 late evening activities per week and one full day trip. We arrange excursions both in Wicklow “The Garden of Ireland” and Dublin. Wicklow has some of the most beautiful natural attractions, such as our local Cliff Walk, Glendalough , Powerscourt Gardens & Waterfall and historical sites such as the Wicklow Gaol.

Dublin city is also bursting with historical attractions including the Book of Kells, Trinity College, Christ Church Cathedral and the Guinness storehouse, the National Museum and National Art Gallery. Dublin is a lovely city to just walk around, explore and take in the sights.

Our students take part in water sports, boxing, karate, yoga and Zumba. We also organise film nights, Irish music evenings, disco and shopping trips in Dublin’s famous Grafton Street or at the fabulous Dundrum Shopping Mall. We are close to the Bowling Alley which offers Quasar and pool too. Students can go swimming or take a walk to feed the swans in the harbour. Students enjoy Dublin’s Wax museum, the Dublin tour bus and sometimes even visit the Leprechaun Museum!

Activities Coordinator

We provide activities coordinators whose main goal is to provide the students with a high standard of care and supervision while ensuring that they have a relaxed and fun filled trip. It is very important to us at Language Academy Ireland that the students have a happy and memorable study holiday experience. We achieve this with the help of our teachers, who keep an active eye on the students’ level and class participation, our office staff, who look after general enquiries and, of course, our Activities Coordinator.
